don't get me wrong: I love love. I love being in love. I don't care what it does to me. but when you practically make out in line and grab your man's pecs while you're smoochin' in front of me, i do not appreciate it. especially when i am hungry. because you guys making out is gross.
also, when it's 2 pm and someone tells you they get off work at nine, don't say, "at night?!?!" as if they were supposed to have left work 5 hours ago and never noticed. believe me, i know when i'm supposed to get off work and i'm ready to go when it's time for me to leave.
anyways, i had a salad from Chipotle and it was heavenly. yum yum yum. i think i'll get that from now on, actually, since if you use a Chipotle calorie counter, the whole burrito is always close to 1000 calories (without cheese or sour cream). i'm not always so vigilant about calories and whatnot, but DANG that is a crap ton. and the worst thing is that i have an insanely fast metabolism and i'm hungry three hours later. which is NOT good. at all.
long story short, one of my new years resolutions is to make a committment to myself to eat healthier and work out more. by eat healthier i mean: less meat, less salt, less fried foods, and less processed goods like crackers. carbs, i love you, but you suck. and by work out i mean: lose my fat butt. haha.
anyways! do you guys have new years resolutions? if so, what are they?
happy new year and may 2010 be a fruitful and abundant year!

holy moley.
hahahah moley asses. oh, how i love family jokes.
my first semester of college was.....lackluster. it's my own fault too.
also, i was writing my grocery list in cursive and i forgot how to wrote the letter "f". i need to go back to third grade. i had to write it five times. ridiculous. and then i wrote a "f" instead of a "t". isn't that so sad that people forget things like that over time? maybe that's why i suck at college.
i wish i were ambidextrous. also, i cannot find my cell phone in my house. i know it's in the car in the driveway, but i don't have the keys. boo.
i tend to leave tabs open on firefox for days and it is so annoying. i've had this tab open for days, and now i ordered something online and it now has a confirmation number. since i don't have a printer at home (damn me for leaving things in the dorms) i have to leave that crap open. maybe, though. i've never even needed to use those danged codes.
i went to the dentist today and i will just say i love my dental hygienist, Stacey. she is so cute and funny. we talk about how stupid some men are (the ones she dates). my appointment took fifteen minutes longer than my brother's because we were talking so much :)
i made christmas cookies this year, and whenever i make gingerbread, they always tend to dry out really fast and i'm left with thick, stale, and gingersnaps. cookies should be none of those things. also, i am super lame and want to buy a crap ton of cookbooks but never do because i am a broke, cheap college student. so, i went on AllRecipes.com and found the recipe where it was easiest to replace the eggs since i have food allergies.
That recipe can be found here: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Gingerbread-Men-Cookies/Detail.aspx
these cookies were awesome. five days later, they are still soft, and they are easy to bake and decorate. I just made some icing with powdered sugar and vanilla soy milk, and added Ener-G egg replacer (follow the directions on the box) to stiffen up half the icing to make it easy to frost these puppies. om om om. my friend told me he loved me because the cookies were so good. i'll consider that a success.
also, i tried this CRAZY coffee called civet coffee that is harvested from the feces of the civet cat. the cats eat the beans and don't digest them, and farmers go around picking these whole beans out of this cat poop. Mmm. Anyways, to describe the coffee, it was very very caffiene-charged. It was a straight BAM to the senses. I was wired off just half a teacup of the stuff. It tasted very acidic, but i liked it. Apparently, though, it costs about $2oo a pound. NOT WORTH IT. I took a trip to Fresh & Easy and bought myself some coffee for my dorm. I'm also going to buy myself a french press in about ten minutes on Amazon. i don't drink a lot of coffee, and when i do, it's with soy milk/coffeemate stuff. yum.
i have not posted in a very very very long time and i'm wondering if i should make blogging a habit. we shall see, bbs. i'm wondering if i should do a step-by-step cooking blog? i think that would be hecka fun.
i'm making a cake for one of my best friend's baptism. i'm very excited, and i've never been to a baptism before. even though i'm using a boxed mix and canned frosting (UGH-shame on me!), should i still do a step-by-step? the only reason i chose boxed mix is because it didn't have any milk in it, and i don't know how to hand make yellow cake. this should be a grand adventure!
anyways, this was a huge ramble. ttfn foxy readers!

so....tired.....
it's really lame of me to be complaining about my sleep schedule because it's not like i have a whole boatload of things to do. but i love having three new best friends to stay up and talk to all night (KATHRYN!!!) hahaha.
College homework is easy as heck. I have no problem with textbook reading. I'm lucky in that sense...not a lot of people have a good time with reading 80 pages of an English book on how to structure arguments. But then again, here I am writing a blog, putting off crappy homework.
ASU beat Idaho State 43-0. WHOOO. Yeah. I didn't even bother watching the second half. I had more important things to do...like take the trash in my room out. It was stanky. I cleaned up for a while last night (our bathroom is spotless!) and I'm actually thinking of starting a little "business" where I clean Barrett student's bathrooms for around $10 or $15 for half hour slots every two weeks. What do you think? I know it could be icky, but it's money. And I like to clean bathrooms. It's capitalizing on the fact that college students hate/are too busy to clean their bathrooms.
I've been commuting back and forth to work from school, and that's getting very old. Today I only worked a two hour shift. I spent about as much time on the bus/light rail as I did at work....something's gotta change. I am supposed to be expecting a phone call about an on-campus job very soon, so that's exciting!
Other than that, not much has been happening. It's a Sunday afternoon here, and it's just sleepy and quiet. I'm thinking of going to study in my floor's lounge rather than sit on my bed and risk falling asleep. :)
I love you guys and I hope you're doing very well.

melissa will be happy.
here i am, at home, eating sunflower seeds. one of my favorite things. and my mom made me a bowl of chili :)
I have concluded my first week of college. (LE GASP). If I had to sum it up in one word, it would be....fresh. why, you say? i think because college is more of a "fresh" start to life than anything else. it's a chance for me to live on my own (sorta) and to operate with more freedom. it's lovely.
i had the chance to move in a week before classes (yes!) so i could settle in and go find my classes. Alison and I have been eating dinner together almost every night, and it gives me the opportunity to stay connected with my best friend even though our schedules are completely different. we also end up attracting people who come and sit next to us and introduce themselves, which is great too.
and of course there are cute college boys. who wear dunder mifflin shirts. <3
classes have been incredibly easy as of yet. i have a precalc class, advanced english, intro to social and cultural anthropology, biology 101, ASU 101, and the Human Event for the honors college. phun. seriously, though, everything is going very well. in some classes, i'm bored to tears, but if i raise my hand to ask a question, i wake up. :P
anyways, the week has been great, my roommates are awesome, and there's lots to distract me. i'm hoping that everyone who reads this is well and that everything continues to be as fun as it has been. much love!

I'm tired beyond reason..
But i feel obligated to write this. I moved into my dorm at the Barrett Honors College community at Arizona State University today. HECK TO THE YEAH. I'm very happy with my situation at the moment. My roommate Sonal is a doll, and her parents are funny and sweet. My suitemate Kathryn is HILARIOUS. She and I are two peas in a pod. And Jessica, my other suitemate has been kind of M.I.A. Her family is from Wisconsin and they're visiting to get her all moved in and I suppose they'll only be here until Sunday. So I completely understand her wanting to spend as much time with them as possible.
There was a dance/rave in the second floor of the "Great hall" (wth is up with all the harry potter references here at Barrett?) and Sonal and I went to that for a while. It was hot...and sweaty. I met a guy named Shawn a few months ago at this extremely professional dinner at the Honors College, and he was dancing his little heart out at the dance tonight. Kinda made me laugh.
YEAH. More tomorrow. I'm exhausted.

Craziest Week Ever....
wow is all i can say. this week was the beginning of the end of my high school education. FINALLY. hahah, jk. no, I've been in the IB program for three years and each day has been a struggle and a challenge. not to say that it wasn't fun, rewarding and a good learning experience. but it was very difficult for me in the beginning.
this week has been nothing but exams. it kind of tapered: monday=1, tuesday=2, wednesday=3, thursday=2, friday=1. so that was actually really nice. sadly, though, this week has been nothing but terribly confusing. i can't even remember what day it is, let alone what i had for dinner yesterday or when i even went to PE this week. i've stayed after school until 6, 8 or 10 every day (except wednesday, it was nice to make it home by 5) to study, take tests, or prepare for more. right now our priority is studying for the Drama test--we have to pick a genre to study and Ms Harper chose Drama, so we've read Antigone, Pygmalion, and still need to do Death of a Salesman and Master Harold...and the Boys. I finished Master Harold...today and I liked it a lot. i don't think i get it quite yet. but i have to have this stuff done by monday. eek. so tomorrow is a 12-10 day again, but i have work from 11-1:30. ugh.
so now i am exhausted because this day has been hella long. i was at school for sixteen hours, and i need to get into bed ASAP. but I got my own laptop! I'm so happy to have something that nice for my own--It's not being rented from the school. whoo hoo!
anyways, hasta manana.

What a strange day...
So it was a long day like usual. Our IB exams are next week and looming in the near future, so our amazing English/History teacher, Ms. Harper, is giving up at least 5 more hours a day to help us review our material. So after hours of Vietnam and Cold War review, we finally wrapped up and cleaned her room, making it ready to come back to on Sunday (from 11-8. Ugh!)
Anyways, Jon, Erica, Alison, Stephen and I were walking out to the student parking lot and we saw a guy laying there. Initially, I freaked out and lagged behind, maybe looking for protection instinctively. Jon told me to walk quickly to the car and the man told him to call the police because he had been hit by a car and his hip was broken. Stephen walked Alison and Erica to their car and then came back to us. Steve and I called 911 and an ambulance, the police, and fire/paramedics showed up within minutes. We stayed to give police statements and to let them know what we saw. He was taken care of and I'm positive that he's in the hospital now, because he was pretty messed up. Poor guy. But I'm glad that it worked out the way it did, and I think the entire incident has really changed my perspective--I'm just happy to be at home with my family whom I love very much.
Sleep well and be careful.

In the passenger seat, as you are driving me home...
I am a loser.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hsa1Ff9N5dQ
I love Four-Eyed Monsters. I got the chance to watch the entire movie on Youtube once, and was blown away by the raw emotion of the work. It's basically about a couple that meets and falls in love (a big part of it is whether or not they really love each other) and how they express love through the artistic means of writing and film. But it also deals with the topics of mental illness, paranoia, and the un-sure-ness of being human. It's really beautiful. And it made me cry really hard because of its beauty and the rawness of the entire thing. I loved it, and I'm planning to buy it soon.
But this is just a little refreshing, unrelated tidbit right here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=daTTOyu-E1w&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fperezhilton.com%2Fpage%2F2%2F&feature=player_embedded
I like this version much better :)
And another thing: I am transforming this blog into a kind fo college blog after not updating for a long time. I have a core group of friends that are all going to different colleges. We're using these blogs as a means of communication while we're all apart, because these relationships we've forged over the last three years of IB are too strong to forget or let fall apart. As time goes by and if my friends permit, I'll post the links to their blogs as well. So basically, this blog will document my experiences at Bennington and will be another creative outlet for me. I hate diaries, so this should be a good way of allowing me to express how I'm feeling without sounding really contrived. I also feel pretty comfortable sharing my thoughts with my family and friends, so it doesn't really bother me to know that other people will be reading this :).
